Danish National Girls Choir

Denmark

Danish National Girls Choir, conducted by Michael Bojesen, consists of almost 50 girls aged 16-21 years. The choir tradition in Denmark is very strong, going back several centuries. This choir, which is considered one of the best girls’ choirs in the world, combines old song traditions with new music, always working to develop the choir tradition exploring the special sound of young girls voices. Through a strong focus on educating children and youth in the choir tradition, the Danish Radio has created a young elite ensemble that possesses a unique talent for both Grundtvig’s hymns, modern compositions, pop songs and community songs without loosing its musical spark and infectious enthusiasm. The DR Girls Choir's unique bright sound also mean that they are used as a backing choir for both Danish and foreign pop musicians.

Danish National Girls Choir will perform on Day 1 of NORDIC MUSIC DAYS 2010.
