The Finnish composer, pianist and conductor Jukka Tiensuu has studied in Freiburg, Helsinki and New York. His repertoire as a musician ranges from Baroque music to John Cage and free improvisation and he has given master classes in baroque performance practice and free improvisation. Also Tiensuu’s work as a composer encompasses a broad spectra of musical genres, from electro-acoustical pieces to compositions for jazz orchestras, Baroque music ensembles and solo instruments such as the Finnish instrument kantele. His music has been performed by Arditti Quartet, Kari Kriikku, Ensemble Intercontemporain and Jukka-Pekka Saraste, among others.
