The Finnish composer Olli Virtaperko studied theoretical Philosophy and Musicology at Helsinki University and Edinburgh University 1992-1995. In 2005, he graduated from Sibelius Academy in Helsinki. Virtaperko has received several awards for his work, among other things he was a finalist in Gaudeamus Music Prize in The Netherlands and in the competition Contemporary European Anthem in 2004. His work is highly recognized and has been performed in a number of festivals in Europe.
