Søren Nils Eichberg was born in Stuttgart but grew up in Denmark. He studied orchestra conducting with Michael Luig at the Hochschule für Musik Köln and took courses and classes with Stefan Asbury, Aldo Ceccato and Johannes Kalitzke.
Since winning the first prize in the Queen Elisabeth International Competition for Composers in Brussels in 2001, Eichberg has positioned himself as one of the leading composers of his generation. His works have been performed in most European countries as well as in Japan, China, Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Russia and the U.S.
