In close encounters a group of high school students from the high school-collaboration KULT, will work in close collaboration with the composer collective Dygong.
The composers in Dygong, Simon Løffler, Nicolai Worsaae, Regin Petersen and Christian Winther Christensen, write all the music for their concerts themselves. At the concerts they also participate in the performances running the sound and lighting, and they cooperate with young up-and-coming musicians for whom the performance of modern music and the collaboration with composers comes naturally.
The high school students are invited to join the musical universe of Dygong and are then asked to design and present a concert in collaboration with the composers. The students participate in all aspects of planning the concert: choosing a program, adapting the music, choice of presentation format, scenic design and marketing; and each student will add their own personal contribution.
The concert is developed through a chain of events prepared by Dygong in collaboration with the students’ teachers. The students will participate in workshops, lectures on new music, concert production, etc. They are free to use their own networks and familiar electronic communication forms and social medias which they already use in a both flexible and efficient manner.
The concert is presented in The Grey Hall during Nordic Music Days 2010 in Copenhagen.
Close encounters will create a contact to the experimental music that lets high school students develop their knowledge of new music as well as their creative, innovative and communivative skills.
With free reins, drive, enthusiasm and inventiveness, a surprising concert will emerge during the festival. You’re in for a surprise in The Grey Hall on Friday – September 10th – 6 pm
