Happy Folk – Nordic Contemporary Folk Orchestra consists of eleven talented folk musicians from Sweden, Norway, the Faroe Islands and Denmark. Their music is placed in the span between the traditional and the modern, and between folk music and contemporary. Happy Folk explores novel musical expressions and techniques, and they interpret and form traditional folk tunes in new ways. The orchestra is also interested in the physical context of the music and their concerts take place in both concert halls and in the streets. In connection with Nordic Music Days 2010, the orchestra has cooperated with the fiddle players Vegar Vårdal (NO) and Tove de Fries (DK) as well as the composer Jexper Holmen (DK). Happy Folk have also worked with fiddle player Patrik Andersson (SE) and composer Daniel Hjorth (SE).
Happy folk - Nordic Contemporary Folk Orchestra will be playing outdoors saturday September 11 at Gråbrødretorv and Gammeltorv.

Nordic Music Days 2010 is organized by the Danish Composers´ Society for the Council of Nordic Composers.
