Nordic Music Days opens a window in Berlin

This year, Nordic Music Days will take a trip to Berlin at the end of September and visit Nordlichter Biennale, a festival focussing on Nordic music. This will give the citizens of Berlin a chance to experience a hand picked selection of Nordic music from the exciting program of Nordic Music Days 2010 - works and performances by Danish composers and ensembles such as Andreas Bennetzen, The Messer Quartet and Pace Percussion Trio.

Nordlichter is the result of a close collaboration between Nordic Music Days (Copenhagen) and Radialsystem V (Berlin) and is intended as a forum for artistic and musical exchange between Germany/Berlin and the Nordic countries. This idea is for example reflected in the German soloist ensemble Kaleidoskop’s interpretation of the works of Norwegian composers such as Edvard Grieg, Evan Gardner and Ruben Sverre Gjertsen.

As the name Nordlichter indicates, one of the other main themes of the festival is to put into focus the Scandinavian light as a source of inspiration for the Nordic composers and artists/musicians.

This idea is put into play in connection with Nordlichter’s ”warm up” concert where the Danish ensembles Alpha Trio and Pace Percussion Trio will perform in the remarkable building of the Danish Embassy followed by short interviews with the various composers on the theme of light as a source of artistic inspiration.
