Day 2
PEARLS, PAIN AND GILDED SPLINTERS

Peärls Before Swïne Experience meets Esbjerg Ensemble for a night of contrasts.
Mattias Petersson meets Antonio Vivaldi in a reconstruction of one of the baroque period’s most famous works – now for violin and live electronics.

The setting for Day 2 is the Copenhagen Music Theatre (Københavns Musikteater) – an evening in the company of the Danish chamber ensemble Esbjerg Ensemble and the Swedish quartet peärls before swïne experience. The Esbjerg Ensemble will be presenting a brand new percussion concert by Per Nørgaard as well as an interesting work for ensemble and bass clarinet by the Finnish composer Lotta Wennäkoski.

For a brief moment, while you listen to excerpts from Klaus Ib Jørgensens fantastic song cycle Moonpain, let the Portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa seduce you to the moonlit streets of Lisbon around the year 1900. Also, you can look forward to being waited on by peärls before swïne experience when they round off the evening with one of their famous club concerts.

But before getting this far, the Swedish composer Mattias Petersson and the violinist George Kentros will give their interpretation of Vivaldi’s 'The Four Seasons' when they turn it back into new music, not to make it hip but to make it worth playing and listening to again.
